Workshop on Europe’s capital markets union

May 11th, 2016 | Palacio de la Bolsa de Madrid
Plaza de la Lealtad,1 | 12:00 – 14:00 | Conference Hall
Organised by: Fedea and BME

The Capital Markets Union (CMU) project is an opportunity to rethink financial integration after the crisis. The lack of private risk sharing, i.e. cross-border holdings of assetes, lies at the core of the financial instability in the region. Integration of the single market also a pre-condition for further coordination of fiscal policies in the euro area. Building on an extensive literature review and analysis, with a rigorous methodology, the Report identifies 36 cross-border barriers to capital market integration and advances 33 policy recommendations to overcome them. The report builds upon a yearlong discussion with international academics, industry experts and policy-makers.
